Weekend Workshop

Linton Village Hall, Linton (near Grassington),North Yorkshire

Fee: £200

This Workshop will focus on various fingerstyle techniques and is for the beginner to intermediate student. The focus of the Weekend revolves around “Are you playing the guitar or is your guitar playing you”. The alternating bass style (i.e. Mississippi John Hurt), monotonic bass (i.e. Mance Lipscomb) and other fingerstyle approaches will be explored.

I will supply written tab/music as well as a CDR of the material to be studied. You are encouraged to bring recording devices to record the sessions. I will be teaching the group as well as each student individually. The Workshop is being limited to 15 students.

The fee for the Weekend Workshop does not cover your accomodations or supper on Saturday night.

Weekend Workshop in Yorkshire
Ragtime Blues Guitar

July 5th and 6th, 2008

Saturday at 10AM - 6PM
Sunday at 10AM- 4PM

Place: Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall, Pateley Bridge,North Yorkshire

Fee: £200

This Workshop will focus on various ragtime blues techniques and style of Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller,  Rev. Gary Davis, Sam McGee and others. This Workshop is geared for students comfortable with the alternating bass style.

I will supply written tab/music as well as a CDR of the material to be studied. You are encouraged to bring recording devices to record the sessions. I will be teaching the group as well as each student individually. The Workshop is being limited to 15 students.

We live part of the year in Pateley Bridge which is in Nidderdale (classified as an Area Of Outstanding Beauty). They have a yearly Festival which includes music, organised walks, rock climbing and talks. The Festival begins on Friday 4th July and I will be playing at St. Cuthberts Church on the 4th if anyone would like to come along. I’m afraid you’ll have to organise your own tickets, you can get them at www.nidderdalefestival.org.uk .
